Who I am beyond design

I'm an explorer of many things: the recipes in a new cookbook, the hidden coffee shops of slow beach towns, and the hiking trails dotting the hills behind my college.

Once we leave the office, we turn to our hobbies, pastimes, and purposes that lie beyond work. I work not just because I’m passionate about design (though that is a large part) but to provide for myself, my loved ones, and fund the adventures that lay ahead of me.

My inspirations and interests

I try to find joy in everything I do, and my eye for design allows me to appreciate life more than I would otherwise. Wandering in nature or a big city is a great pastime.

The beauty of the mundane never escapes me — the path a river carves down a mountain, the uneven shadows from tree leaves, the steam from a freshly cooked meal.

I love cooking (especially bread and jams as of recent!), road trips, seeing local live bands, and astronomy. Traveling around the world and acquiring even more houseplants have been two ongoing goals that I've slowly begun to complete.

What has always drawn me to UX/UI design is the process of seamlessly integrating research and design to create meaningful experiences. I am in the process of learning the first part of that: how to how to understand users at a fundamental level through unbiased research to inform my designs.

Another goal of mine is to prioritize accessibility, meaning that people of any ability are able to use a product without the need for modification. I aspire to contribute to projects where research-driven insights shape designs that bridge gaps, foster understanding, and elevate the user experience for diverse audiences.
